Scrimshaw was an art practiced by sailors on whaling ships out at sea. It commonly consisted of elaborated whaling scenes incised into the teeth of whales. This set of 4 Scrimshaw coasters looks to recapture the sentiment of this art form. Luckily, no whales were harmed in it’s manufacture. Gorgeous Nauticals

For a lightweight melamine plate, these are elegant and a beautiful asset to the patio. Although they cannot be used in the microwave, they wash up nicely in the dishwasher and are strong enough for a generation of picnics.
